List of ingredients:
Sponge cake
- 350g of flour
- 1/2 of a packet of baking powder
- 1 packet of sugar with vanilla extract
- 120g of powdered sugar
- 150g of butter
- 2 egg yolks
- 4 table spoons of sour cream
Filling
- apples ( the amount depens on how much filling you would actually have)
- 80g of sugar
- 1 table spoon of bread crumbs
- a pinch of cinnamon
First of all we need to put our flour through a sieve to make it easier to work with.
We do the same thing with half a packet of baking powder and it should form into some kind of a pyramid.
After that we need to make a medium sized hole in the middle where we will put the rest of our ingredients. I find using a finger the easiest method.
After that we add into the hole 150g of butter. But we must not mix it in yet.
Then we put in 120g of powdered sugar and 1 packet of vanilla sugar. Once again we do not mix it yet.
Then we put in the 2 egg yolks.
After that’s all done we put in 4 table spoons of sour cream.
Now get ready to get yourhands dirty because now we start mixing it. We star by putting flour at the edges on top of the hole. And then we just mix it all up.
We need to knead the dough until it looks like this.
And now all there is left for us to do is to turn it into a ball.
Now we let the dough rest for 30 to 60 minutes. In the meantime we can prepare the filling for our apple pie.
For the filling we can take whole apples from which we have extracted the core and just start grating them. After the selected amount of apples is grated we put them into a pot and cover them with a lid. This will make the apples soften up and make them taste better.
Next we put the 80g of sugar directly on the apples and let it soak in.
Once the sugar is all gone our filling is ready.
Now we can take our dough and cut it in half.
We use the roller to roll out the dough.
Next we put the freshly rolled up dough on top of the roller and carefully place it into the baking mold.
Then we pull up the edges of the dough until it reaches the edge of the mold.
And now we can begin putting the filling on top of the dough.
Now we roll out the second half of our dough.
Next we use a cutting wheel to make strips of dough.
After we have the strips we can put them on top of the filling. However before putting the strips on we need to use bread crumbs so the strips won’t get stuck to the filling and it’s easier to decorate.
Now we just put our apple pie in the oven for 1 hour on 180°C (356 Fahrenheit).
After it’s baked we must let it cool off before serving it to other people so that they don’t burn themselves and so the apple pie doesn’t cruble to much.
After it’s cooled off we can just cut out little triangles and if oyu want to make it even sweeter you can serve some whipped cream along with the pie since they work together very well.
